Experience
Tutoring Bio: Hello, I’m Chris! I have over 4 years of experience tutoring Mathematics. I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineered and earned a B or higher in the following mathematics courses: College Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus I-III, and Differential Equations. During my sophomore year in college, I began tutoring professionally at my school’s Academic Learning Center. At my time here, I trained and obtained State licensure and held the designation of Level II - Advanced Tutor. The trainings provide various tutoring techniques and additional subject matter review. Also throughout my 4 years working as a tutor, I was able to gain feedback from tutees, fellow tutors, and my Supervisors. While tutoring, I try to begin the session by first establishing rapport with the student and making an honest and genuine attempt to make them feel comfortable. Also, with all material I make attempts to make the material more relatable by trying to understand the student’s personality, background, and major and providing relevant scenarios accordingly. Additionally, I try to work together with the tutee to determine solutions to problems thus fostering learning and growth within them. I typically try to close out the session by discussing next steps with the tutee, for example: what to work on moving forward, how they can prepare for tests, exams, etc, and what else they would like to see and/or go over in future sessions. Lastly, my goal is to not only tutor the material, but the students themselves. In my experience during tutoring sessions, I have mentioned tips regarding time management, note-taking and study skills, and other topics that are indirectly related to academia. I have a true passion for mathematics and for people and this is evident in my creative and energetic tutoring style. I specialize in courses from Prealgebra, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus. Additionally I am able to assist in standardized test preparation. I would like to add as much value as possible to students’ academic and professional lives. In order to effectively to do so, I would like future students to know the following: I am requesting 24 hours of cancellation notice, no cancellation fee. I look forward to working with you!
